Philadelphia, or Philly, is the largest city in Pennsylvania and ranks number six in the country with over 1.5 million residents. There are many universities and colleges in Philadelphia, making it a top study destination and education hub. It also has five Fortune 1000 companies and plenty of skyscrapers, with an expanding skyline. Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh comes in number two in population within Pennsylvania with over 305,000 residents. This city sits in the south west of the state where three rivers meet. It is often called ‘The Steel City’ because there are over 300 steel-related businesses in the region. It also has more than 446 bridges, which makes its nickname of ‘city of bridges’ make sense. Today, the city has a lot of technology firms as well, and there are also federal agencies headquartered there. It has been ranked one of the top most “livable” cities in the world, coming in at number eleven, and it comes in first or second most years as one of the top livable cities in the country. It has even been deemed ‘Food City of the Year’ based on its plentiful options.
Allentown
The third most populated city in the state is Allentown with a population of just under 120,000 and growing. This town is the fastest growing city in the state. It celebrated its 250th anniversary of its founding in 2012 and has a well-established history. The Delaware River is nearby and one of the main original rail lines comes through the city as well. With a downtown redevelopment project that was completed in 2016, Allentown has been cited as a national success story.
